Wichita, Kansas — The appointment of Sam Brownback today sets up his lieutenant, Jeff Colyer, to take over as a lame-duck until a new governor is elected in November.

“Colyer isn’t expected to be much different than Brownback, just more liberal,” said Hartman. “We’re going to see the same career politician tactics — big spending without a plan to pay for it.”

Topeka, Kansas — Candidate for Kansas governor, Wink Hartman, joined the March for Life in Topeka today, standing on the South Capitol steps with legislators and statewide elected officials.

“I’ve been involved in the pro-life movement since David Gittrich pulled me aside and told me it isn’t enough just to be pro-life,” said Hartman. “He told me I needed to get involved and make a real difference. I’ve been active with Kansans for Life ever since, and I hope I’ve made the impact David was looking for.”

Wichita, Kansas -- Campaign finance reports becoming available today show Republican Wink Hartman with a significant cash-on-hand advantage. Hartman reported $1.5 million available to run and win the Republican primary election.

“This election is about the people of Kansas finally getting leadership that serves them, not the special interests,” said Hartman. “I go into this race not owing anyone any favors, and when we win, I’ll answer to the voters, not the big donors.”

Topeka, Kansas -- Candidate for Kansas Governor, Republican Wink Hartman, attended the State of the State address Tuesday evening where Governor Brownback outlined $600 million in new K-12 school spending.

“This is another budget built on smoke and mirrors,” said Hartman. “The governor pulls money from our state retirement program -- dollars our children and grandchildren will have to repay with interest.”

Wichita, Kansas -- Candidate for Kansas governor, Wink Hartman, made the following statement regarding his support for adoption and the right to life.

"I'm pro-life for many reasons, primarily because I believe the right to life is granted by God. I'm also a proponent of adoption, because the decision of one young lady I have never met, made me who I am today."
